Poetry is a language Of powerful thoughts and imagery, it can strike in the heart of man, it can shape lives and actions. Then can it not be used to enhance to the finder qualities of man? Rather than providing shallow enjoyment? And promoting the baser instincts? If I was a poet, I would like my words To compell the soul, To pursue the true pupose of existence. Oh, what wouldn’t I give to go on collecting my reward, Beyond this life....

Truly Passionate

29-06-05

Passion
Isn’t about loving in the arms of your husband
Wild, abandoned onslaught on the senses
Moans of pleasure, sighs of contentment.

Passion
Isn’t the fire ignited in you heart
By a small gesture from your beloved.

Passion
Isn’t the mindless ardour
Mistaken by some as ‘love.’

Passion is much more than that
Which we count as its definition
Or its manifestation for our justification.

Passion
Is the resolution, born of determined faith,
Discarded pessimism, banished doubts,
Though the task at hand seems mountainous.

Passion
Is the steadfast commitment,
Being propelled by intrinsic motivation,
Knowing temptations may strike in a momentary lapse.

Passion
Is the utter dedication to the mission
Sacrificing momentary comfort
To be worthy of the ultimate reward

Passion
Is unrepentant persistence in one goal,
Consistent repetitions to counter mistakes
And finally seize your rightful success

In that sense my friend,
Your life has been worthless
If you never felt passion,
If you weren’t passionate about even a single thing!

my poems aren't that good! To some people it doesn't even make sense. But when I write this is what I do:
1. Choose a topic
2. Consider my perspective on the topic.
3. COnsider the message I want people to get
5. List some expressive, emotive words, adjectives, verbs, adverbs
6.Write it up.
I use the online rhyming dictionary if I want to find a rhyming word. You'll find it on my links.

Wow. This poem SPOKE to me. I'm not trying to be sarcastic or humorous. The way you defined passion as commitment, persistence and a vision focused on a goal that so often seems too distant and remote replaced, for me, the ideas that seep into my contemplations as to what passion and ambition should feel like or be, as well as restored the honour, grace and strength of character that belong to your definition of passion. The message loudest to me was the one that explained that one's life is worthless, passionless, empty, and thus shameful if one has never committed, devoted, strived, stuggled, challenged one's self for at least one purpose, one single thing.. if they have never done their best, given their all. I realise now that the problem of passionlessness and ambitionlessness is misunderstood, that the passion we are all looking for is actually a form of abstinence, sacrifice and service, that we can only find peace in obligation and devotion, not in comfort and temporal desires. Thanks alot.

wow... just wow.

A poem is never good enough for the poet... that's why you leave it up to the reader's to decide.
An inspiration? Flynn? As in this Flynn? I'm sorry, I'm experiencing more Flynnic confusion-ism here...
*Flynn shakes her head in an attempt to clarify jumble thoughts in her head*
No- it can't be this Flynn.
